Effects of Low Pressure Injection on Fuel Atomization and Mixture Formation for Heavy Fuel Engines

The application of direct injection (DI) technology can effectively improve the atomization effect heavy fuel to reduce loss engines (HFE). spray characteristics directly affect combustion performance engine. To investigate process and evaporation in-cylinder for an air-assisted (AADI) engine, a simulation calculation model AADI HFE was established with use computational fluid dynamics tool. injector one-dimensional were verified by test data. influences timing pressure on mixture formation in engine cylinder discussed. results show that concentration distribution is uniform after advanced, mass fraction increases. earlier provide sufficient time evaporate, while later will result increasing Sauter mean diameter (SMD) droplets, unevaporated chamber tends become concentrated. With increase air pressure, mixed gas becomes uniform, SMD droplets decreases. When 0.65 MPa 0.75 MPa, difference between decreases, favorable be maintained.
